Over the past 3.5 years, the following accomplishments were controlled or influenced toward improving the lives of At Large citizens:

Established Cherokee Nation At Large Mutual Assistance - a national non-profit dedicated to assisting at-large citizens in need. (www.cnalma.org)

Expanded the Hearing Aid Program with Legislative Act 07-22.

Expanded the Sports Team Funding program to At Large counties contiguous to the reservation.

Expanded the Livestock Sale Funding program to include At Large counties contiguous to the reservation.

Expanded the Clothing Assistance program to include all At Large students.

Expanded the Emergency Utility Assistance Program to include At Large counties contiguous to the reservation.

Provided Disaster Relief Funds to At Large families in Florida and Maui.

Increased funding and expanded access to scholarships designated for At Large students ($40,632,398 in At-large college scholarships from the Cherokee Nation since 2020). Learn more

Budgeted new Healthcare Patient Experience Team positions dedicated to assisting At Large citizens with healthcare questions, concerns, and scheduling.

Passed (unanimously) a Tri-Council resolution mandating tribal nationality to be designated on museum/gallery display tags for all artists.

Expanded funding for At Large language and history initiatives.

Expanded Community Impact Grants to At Large CCO-participating community organizations.

Expanded informative programs such as the “Wherever We Are” series, periodic Legislative updates, and topic-focused town halls.

Expanded free subscriptions to the Cherokee Phoenix newspaper to all citizens.

Increased direct communications through text alerts and informational videos.

Championed inclusion of At Large citizens in the College Internship Program (first time ever).

Championed first-time inclusion of At Large business owners into the Small Business Loan assistance program.

Championed expansion of wellness grants/initiatives to CCO-participating at large community groups.

Championed inclusion of At Large areas into the Housing Reauthorization Act of 2023 (first time ever)

Pay for Medicare Part A, Part B, and Part D.

Johnny Jack Kidwell was born in Claremore, OK and spent all of his younger years growing up in Spavinaw, OK.
After 20+ years of honorable service, Johnny retired from active duty on May 31, 2011 at the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
Johnny’s career encompassed many diverse positions all over the world: operations afloat/ashore, personnel training and education, law enforcement duties and intelligence operations overseas.

Johnny received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from The University of Oklahoma and holds three master’s degrees; M.Ed from San Diego State University, MBA from Southern Nazarene University and a Masters in Indigenous Peoples Law from The University of Oklahoma College of Law.

Johnny’s personal decorations include: Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Transportation 9-11 Medal, and MORE. In addition, Johnny proudly received the Cherokee Warrior Medal of Patriotism in January of 2019 and was inducted into the U.S. Coast Guard OCS Wall of gallantry in 2022. He lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma with his wife (Charybel) and their two sons; Jonathan (11yrs) and Joseph (9yrs).
